Michael Cernyar's computer experience began in 1980 at, arguably, Chicago's most prestigious law firm of that time, Keck, Mahin, & Cate, located on the top floors of the Sears Tower. In 1982, Michael Cernyar joined the military subsidiary of the Rand Corporation (located in Santa Monica, California), providing computer support to interests in Western Europe.

It was at this time, Mr. Cernyar and a colleague became one of the first to decipher the most sophisticated encryption code of its day. In addition, Mr. Cernyar became quite sophisticated with manipulating operating system control blocks, allowing him to alter status on asymmetric and symmetric operating systems.

In 1987, Michael Cernyar left the defense industry and entered into healthcare industry as a computer consultant.

In 1991, Michael Cernyar was retained by the U.S. Government as a computer consultant during the Savings & Loan crisis.

After the Savings & Loan crisis, many Fortune 500 Companies were consolidating their data centers throughout the Western Hemisphere. At this time, Michael Cernyar's clients included Xerox, Nestle's, Verizon, Molina Healthcare, Paramount Pictures and Pacificare Healthcare.

Our clients may be the small businessman who is being pursued by the Business Software Alliance because a disgrunted former employee has made false accussations, to the individual who has had their phone cloned and needs our assistance to prove it. Many are good people. Some are entirely innocent, but have been unable to prove it until our firm got involved. Some may have done something wrong and feel they need to be represented by an attorney who understands computers and digital evidence. Whatever your needs, if you require someone who understands electronic evidence then contact us for a free consultation.

FROM THE DESK OF MICHAEL K. CERNYAR

Dear Prospective Client:

As you confront this most unpleasant set of circumstances, allow me to introduce our firm and to offer you the assistance and support of an attorney who has successfully defended computer cases similar to yours.

Having practice computer defense for several years, and having over twenty-nine years of computer knowledge, I wish to share with you some information that is essential to your defense. Early involvement by your attorney is crucial since much electronic evidence is destroyed within a few hours. A good computer attorney will know how to preserve such evidence.

Whether you have been charged with a misdemeanor or a felony - in state or federal court - retaining a lawyer, with computer knowledge, soon after your arrest is crucial for several reasons. Moreover, having a computer lawyer protecting your Constitutional Rights and investigating, recognizing, preserving the exculpatory evidence in your case - in advance of the first court date - along with speaking to the officer who filed the case, are successful strategies we have employed in defending our clients accused of computer crimes. Early involvement on certain cases presents the opportunity to potentially reduce the charges or to have the charges dismissed entirely - prior to the first court date.

Throughout the years I have represented many clients including those charged with the most serious felonies, as well as those charged with their first misdemeanor. My position is that the longer the defendant defers in retaining a lawyer with strong computer knowledge, the more complicated it becomes for a favorable conclusion.

Please feel free to call our office and meet for a Free Consultation.   I will meet with you to explore how best to defend and resolve your case.  Our 24-hour number is 800-409-7010.

Yours truly,

Michael K. Cernyar

AN ENTIRE CAREER DEDICATED
TO COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

The Law Offices of Michael K. Cernyar were founded with the goal of forming a premiere cybercrime defense firm. When electronic evidence is directly converted to paper for review, much information is lost and therefore never discovered - much to the detriment of the defendant. Accordingly, our firm practices cybercrime law in a distinctly different manner — with an emphasis in the electronic evidence such as system logs, listings, deleted computer files, erased e-mails, linkages between e-mail messages and attachments, hidden or changed text in documents, formulas, hidden rows and columns. Although results cannot be guaranteed, none of our clients has pled to felony for a computer crime or has been convicted of a felony for a computer crime. Moreover, our experience in and knowledge of computer investigations results in savings to our clients.

The reputation of the Law Office of Michael K. Cernyar as formidable cybercrime defense litigators is built on our thorough meticulous investigation, preparation, creative strategic thinking, and strong courtroom advocacy.  Our integrity, mastery of the law, knowledge of digital/computer evidence, detailed preparation, our willingness to confront issues and the government head on, along with our eagerness to defend our clients are the principles that drive this firm’s success.

If you or a loved one has been charged with a crime, then you will want the intensity and the experience Michael K. Cernyar brings to the defense.

Your matter is not a television episode where the CSI agent is going beyond the call of duty to ensure they have arrested the right person. It doesn't happen that way in the real world.

Once you have been arrested, the police are not going to alter their conclusions. If they did - then they would be liable for false arrest, along with the potential of losing their career. Accordingly, they would prefer to convict an innocent person than admit a mistake.

If you wish to have your matter researched and investigated properly, as it should be, then you need to retain a defense attorney. Trust the experience and proven results of one of the finest criminal defense lawyers in California.

For Michael, it has long been a personal calling to stand up for the underdog. Michael has represented clients in a variety of criminal charges from murder (i.e. the Robert Blake case) to jaywalking. Moreover, the clients are from various backgrounds - from the politician's friend to the common voter; from law enforcement personnel to gang members; from corporate executives to their employees; from doctors to the unlearned; from white-collar clients to blue-collar clients.

People from all walks of life, good people, innocent people, and people who may have done something wrong, suddenly find themselves in the most unpleasant set of circumstances. Their life is changed forever due to unfortunate circumstances, or maybe poor judgment, carelessness, or just simply poor common sense. Michael had to fight his way to the top of his profession so he is willing to fight the government head on to defend you and your Rights.

If you were unjustly arrested, then you may find that you are stymied by a system that would preferably convict the wrongfully accused than admit a mistake. You may be entirely innocent. Or maybe you are not entirely innocent, but are being overcharged with violations you did not commit. Michael Cernyar can defend you and your Rights during this time of injustice.

At the Law Offices of Michael K. Cernyar, we listen to our clients. Unlike other firms where the client is introduced to a case manager or an office manager or a paralegal, you will meet an attorney on your first visit. Typically that attorney will be Michael himself. He is never too busy for his clients. His goal is to answer his client's telephone calls or when he is unavailable, his obejctive is to return his client's telephone calls within 24 hours.

EARLY INVOLVEMENT IS IMPORTANT TO CAPTURE ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE
