Cases

In a recent case, our client was accused of defrauding a person of $42,000 through Paypal.  The only evidence connecting our client to the crime was an email sent to our client by the perpetrator trying to cover their tracks.

Our client’s first attorney wanted him to plea guilty.  The proposed sentence included a three year prison term and $42,000 in restitution to the victim.  Our client was frustrated.  He didn’t commit the crime and he felt pressure to accept the plea.  Then he came to us.  We listened to his story.  We believed him.  Then we started our own investigation.  We went through hundreds of pages of system logs and computer listings, which led us to the real perpetrator.  We brought our findings to the prosecutor, and charges were dismissed.

We can never guaranty results.  In fact the law prevents us from guarantying results.  However, we can promise to give your cybercrime matter the proper preparation it deserves, from investigation through the disposition.

Michael Cernyar's experience includes several cybercrime matters, including those alleged by the Federal Government. Our firm has been able to reduce several federal cybercrimes to misdemeanors.
